1.Scene-The slaves are freed
Bar shoot out
Point-
The style used in both scenes are
very exaggerated. Similarly to a graphic novel, they use bright colours when showing
blood and the violence is often unrealistic. The unrealistic effects remind the
audience that the plot lines are not historically correct and instead are just
fantasies. There is a reflecting shot showing Shoshanna and the Nazi sign creating a comparison between the heroes and villains.
Message-
Do the effects make the story less serious?
2.Scene-KKK scene
Ending scalp scene
Point-The
films challenge stereotypes of genre, however some conform more than others.
The challenges genres include war and western. By not conforming to the
stereotypes it makes the films controversial as they have serious plots and messages.
Blaxploitation. The genres are challenged to add humour to the films and to
again remind the audience that the revenge is just a fantasy. The scalp scene uses different angles to show the heroes in the film, however it creates empathy for the Nazi confusing the title of a stock hero.
Message-What
is the result of making the films controversial?
3.Scene-Ending shooting
Cinema massacre
Point-The
theme of revenge is a large part in Tarantinos films as a lot of his films are set during historical events. Themes used are adventure, prejudice, violence, religion and adventure. The revenge allows a CHN ending. The revenge is shown in such way which creates sympathy for the villains in both films, but more in Inglorious Basterds as we do not see as much violence to the Jews.
Message- Is violence the way for revenge and a happy ending?
Is it okay to cheer the death of the villain?
