13th September



Class notes. 
Shower scene
Begins in her bedroom, shows vulnerability 
Camera moves slowly= builds up suspense
Close ups- more dramatic and you are able to see her emotion more 
Focuses on her hand grabbing for the curtain as though she is trying to hold on to her life
Focuses on the running shower 
Plug hole comparison to her eye=nothing underneath/behind
Wide shot of her in the shower shows her vulnerability also as she is naked and unaware of the large figure behind her

No more welcome or peace 

Tool kit: cinematography, sound, mise-en-scene, editing 

Cinematography-narrative.
Man breaks down and hits hands like an ape as though he is adapting to the world
You realise that they are the only 2 humans left when the camera pans out and reveals the sunken Statue of Liberty 
The man lowers his level to the ground below the horse suggesting the animals are more powerful 
Message to the film
Post apocalyptic 
Emptiness feeling, long shot empty shot 

Rate- speeds up frames 
More frames slower film

Angle of framing- filming below or above the frame

Level- height of the camera

Canted-level but tilted 

Following shot- follows a character

Point of view shot - characters sight 

Wide angle lens- distort the edges to emphasis the amount of space in a shot 

Extreme long shot- scale of what is being seen is tiny

The Godfather
Location say about the character?
Has his own office, superior
Lighting say about the character?
Dim light, darkness behind the godfather shows he could be a metaphorical barrier between the bad and his wife
Lighter on the women
Slouched man seems comfortable in his own space 

Blade runner; Message- technology in the future will corrupt the world and make it over populated and polluted 
Suggests the increase of migration and the negatives of it as everywhere is crowded and polluted

Women are weak/fragile
Should be saved by the men, can't defend herself
Males fight the villain

Words to describe how it looks:

Narrative:"going for green", green lorry

Orange new car& black older car with more gadgets
Black on the outside white in the inside/bad on the outside good in the inside
Reflection of the orange car on the black car, foreshadowing the younger man becoming like vin diesel and vin diesels past
The fire in the engine, pushing himself too far and ends up hurting himself

Symbolism; black is a dominant colour- black car
Higher car representing his masculinity and age
Phalic imagery- the car rising like an erect penis
Won't allow himself to quit
Risking their lives to prove their masculinity, however they're doing it together which could be seen as a bond between them
The orange car cares because he stops to check on vin diesel
